A MUCH-LOVED pensioner has celebrated her 101st birthday with a smile.
Norah Jones enjoyed her special birthday celebrations at home with family and friends.
And the mum-of-six and grandmother-of-12, who also has 24 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, says the secret to her long and happy life is hard work and putting the family first.
Norah, who lives with her daughter Pauline in Helford Road, Peterlee, was married to Phil Jones, a miner who died aged 80 after 57 years of marriage.
From the tender age of 14 she was in service, and later went on to work as a home-help looking after the elderly.
She used to love going to church, and enjoyed day trips and dominos.
