A MARTIAL arts group is in need of support after being nominated for a national award.

The North-East Tang Soo Do Academy (NETSDA) Little Tigers and its chief instructor Charlie Featherstone have been nominated for the prestigious What’s On 4 2012 Junior Awards.

The awards programme, which is supported by Prima Baby & Pregnancy magazine, is now in its sixth year and celebrates the best activities, classes, volunteers and venues from throughout the UK as nominated and voted for by parents.

NETSDA Little Tigers has been nominated in the best local activity for children aged five to 12 category, while Mr Featherstone has been nominated in the most outstanding activity leader for children aged five to 12 category.

They are both now through to the national voting stage.

NETSDA Little Tigers is part of NETSDA Family Martial Arts & Fitness which won the award for Best Local Sports, Health or Fitness Group in the recent What’s On 4 Me Awards.

The group meets at Owton Manor Primary School, Lynnfield Primary School and Stranton Centre.

Mr Featherstone, club founder and chief instructor, said: “Once again my students and their families have left me speechless.

“I am very grateful for everyone’s support and for another nomination.

“Our Little Tigers programme teaches so many vital lessons and important messages for young children and to watch confidence and self esteem grow within these children is just wonderful to see week in week out.

“If wealth was gauged by job satisfaction and smiley faces, I am the richest man in the world.”

NETSDA Little Tigers teaches children aged four to seven the meaning of respect, discipline and self control while learning new skills in a safe and caring environment.
