Boldon School Year 11 students after completing their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award in Cumbria.
Earlier this Year 10 and 11 students at Boldon School completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award in Cumbria. The students had to carry all of their equipment and provisions (including tents and cooking stoves) for the two-day and one-night expedition and had to camp in freezing temperatures. Throughout the expedition, the students had to work together, following their route cards and map through the countryside, trying not to eat all their rations. Everyone made the most of the trip, taking photographs behind a waterfall and managing to get covered in mud head to toe.

The annual tug of war competition, organised by the management of The Wheatsheaf in West Boldon every August Bank Holiday, will take place on Sunday, August 28, at 10.30am. The competition, which is fiercely fought between rival Boldon teams will take place over the River Don between Boldon Colliery and West Boldon on the burn park in front of Watson Terrace.
