Business in brief

NORTH-East firms are being offered the chance to explore opportunities in three Asian markets.

Opportunities in Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia are up for grabs and companies wanting to find out more are on the way.

Next Monday, a forum called Opportunities in Thailand will be held from 9am to 3pm when UKTI’s experts in Bangkok and representatives of the Thai government and Thai Cultural Forum will talk about what the market can offer North-East firms.

The event is free and will be held at Middlesbrough Football Club’s Riverside Stadium.

To book a place or for more information call the North-East International Trade Hotline on 0845 0505054 or email: enquiries@ukti.rito.co.uk.

l A NETWORKING group is providing a platform for its members to meet new contacts at seminars and workshops.

The Mussel Club, which has members in the Hartlepool area, is urging people to come forward with details of their own planned events.

Club organisers will then promote the activities on their website.

Some have already started to use the service and details of workshops covering topics such as marketing, communication skills, mentoring, business start-up and planning are already available.

Anyone wanting to submit a seminar or workshop should email geoff@themusselclub.com

A CONFERENCE on the future of energy will be held in the region next month.

NOF Energy - the business development organisation for oil, gas, nuclear and offshore renewable sectors - will host the meeting at the Gateshead Hilton on Wednesday, March 7.

It will be opened by Energy Minister Charles Hendry and focus on the role of the supply chain in securing a balanced energy mix.

It is being sponsored by law firm Dickinson Dees and regeneration body Tees Valley Unlimited.

More than 250 people are expected to descend on the North East for the conference. For more information call NOF Energy on (0191) 3846464 or email kleng@nofenergy.co.uk
