Paul on course

PRIZEWINNER Paul Hewitson is looking forward to a bright future after his success in a Mail-backed competition.

Park Ward Estates won a unique prize as part of the Local Business Accelerators contest.

Company owner Paul’s prize was a business course worth up to £500 at Hartlepool College of Further Education.

The delighted winner used to be a student at the college in the 1990s when he studied mechanical and then electrical engineering.

But he was over the moon when he got an invitation to return as an award-winner to the multi-million pound newly-built college.

Paul said: “This is so different from when I studied here. The wonderful surroundings must give the students such a lift with the fantastic facilities and adult environment.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the college and can’t believe I have won this prize.

“I never thought I would win for a minute, but I am so pleased and will hope to grow my business over the coming years.”

Three Hartlepool firms – Place in the Park, 1st 4 Solar, and Get More Time, won the main LBA prize of free advertising space in the pages of the Hartlepool Mail, as well as mentoring from senior figures from the local business community.

But the judges also agreed that the separate award of a business course at Hartlepool College of Further Education should go to Park Ward Estates.

College assistant principal Andy Steel, said: “The college is dedicated to helping businesses of all ages.

“However, it is especially rewarding to be able to assist Paul with his new venture into letting properties in the Hartlepool area. We have successfully been operating an Estate Agency and Lettings qualification with regional company Pattinson, based in Newcastle and more recently with Training Synergy delivering the qualification to various Estate Agencies across the region.

“We know this will definitely help Paul to develop his skills and his business.”
