Man arrested on suspicion of theft from Greggs on Chester Road

A man has been arrested on suspicion of theft at a Greggs store in Sunderland.

At around 8.10am on Tuesday, February 4, police were called to Greggs on Chester Road, following a disturbance.

Officers received reports that a man had attempted to steal items from the store and was being detained by an off-duty officer.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Police attended and a 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft.”

He remains in police custody as inquiries are ongoing.
