A trial date has been set for a man accused of harassing Sunderland Central Labour MP Julie Elliott.

Leonard Lowther, of Marine Walk, Roker, Sunderland, denies harassing Ms Elliott between February 5 and October 3, 2018, via Twitter.

Appearing at Leeds Magistrates' Court earlier this week, Lowther was given unconditional bail by District Judge David Kitson.

The 65-year-old was bailed until May 19, when a two-day trial is now due to take place at the same West Yorkshire court.
