A REVELLER was taken to hospital with a fractured skull after being assaulted outside a nightclub.

The man, who is aged in his 30s and from the Peterlee area, was assaulted outside of The Vibe nightclub, in the town’s Bede Way, in the early hours of Saturday.

He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

They say CCTV footage shows there were about 20 people outside the club at the time of the assault at 1.30am on Saturday.

Detective Constable Martin Wilson, of Peterlee CID, said: “There has been a disturbance in the street.

“The CCTV footage shows there were a number of people present at the time and I would urge people to come forward if they have any information or witnessed what happened.”
