Body found in Marina still unidentified

POLICE have yet to identify a woman who was pulled from the water at Hartlepool Marina.

The body was found floating in the sea near to the Maritime Experience’s Wingfield Castle vessel.

The grim find was made by a security officer at 4am yesterday and the emergency services were called.

Police, fire and ambulance crews went to the scene and removed the body from the sea.

A post mortem examination is yet to be carried out to find out exactly how she died.

A police spokeswoman said: “The woman has yet to be identified.”
