Caterpillar wins award

A MAJOR manufacturer has been awarded for its excellence in human resources.

The HR team at Caterpillar Peterlee, based on the North West Industrial Estate, has been announced as winners of the recent Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) awards.

The key achievements were highlighted in the team’s winning application included the fact that the team was restructured to support the business, becoming more active and forging closer working relationships with management.

HR staff have also worked on improved use of workers’ skills and ensured that colleagues identified and devised schemes to meet future company needs by running development centres for future shopfloor management.

The team submitted their application for the awards earlier this year and now hold the title of Human Resources and Development Team of the Year 2012.

The application was based on seven key achievements, including the team being restructured to support the business in its upturn, employee relations and diversity and high performance working practices.
