Didn't they Tang Soo Do well?

MARTIAL arts students are top of the class after achieving a 100 per cent pass rate in recent exams.

Students from the North East Tang Soo Do Academy, which is based at Owton Manor Primary School, in Eskdale Road, Hartlepool, scored an average of 70 per cent in a recent grading test.

Around 20 people, aged between seven and 40, tested for their next coloured belts by taking part in free fighting and self-defence movement exams.

The academy, which also has a base in Middlesbrough, has 48 members ranging in age from five to 61.

Chief instructor and qualified examiner Charlie Featherstone said: "I was absolutely delighted with their efforts and I am very proud of them all.

"The standard was very high and I don't think I have ever seen an average score as high as that.

"The pass mark is 60 per cent so I am delighted that the average was 70 per cent plus."

Organisers say the club is family friendly and welcomes students from as young as five into their Tiger programme, which caters for youngsters up to the age if seven.

Each session costs 4, but there are discounts if more than one member of a family joins.
