Girl stuck in swing

FIREFIGHTERS went to the rescue of a young girl who became stuck in a child’s swing.

A crew from Peterlee Fire Station was called to Memorial Park, in Horden, where the girl, thought to be about 12 or 13, got trapped in the swing.

The incident happened around 3.15pm yesterday and firefighters spent half an hour freeing her.

The youngster was with a group of other girls when the incident happened.

Crew manager John Livingston said: “It was a small child’s swing and the girl got in it but couldn’t get back out.

“She had become quite distressed. We used cutting equipment to free her.”
