GLAMOUROUS school-leavers headed along the red carpet as they celebrated their proms.

Pupils from Shotton Hall Academy, in Peterlee, were dressed to impress as they marked the end of months of hard work with a glittering do.

They were given the full Hollywood treatment as they headed along a red carpet in their new Passfield Way building.

Wearing colourful frocks and sharp suits, they were met by the flashes of parents’ cameras before they travelled to Beamish for the celebration.

Teenagers from Catcote Business and Enterprise College, in Hartlepool, also enjoyed their prom last night with a party at Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience.

Hundreds of students across Hartlepool and East Durham have been enjoying their leaving dos – and the Mail and Peterlee Star have been covering every one of them.

You can order copies of pictures in today’s Mail by telephoning our photosales department on (01429) 239408 or by logging on to northeastpress.newsprints.co.uk

Please make a note of any photographic reference numbers printed (eg, Hild01).

Watch out too for details of our bumper proms supplements with dozens more pictures.

Photos from Hartlepool schools will appear in the Mail with East Durham proms appearing in the newly re-launched Peterlee Star.

These supplements will be published once the proms season ends in the middle of July.
