Have you seen Sam?

Sam the Border Collie.

Sam the Border Collie.

THEY say man’s best friend is his dog and that is certainly the case for Keith Dunn.

Keith has been left downhearted since his beloved border collie, Sam, went missing.

The four-year-old black and white dog has not been seen since he went missing near the beach banks behind Blackhall allotments around 7.30am on Friday, June 29, after being spooked by a group of terriers.

Now Keith says he feels “lost” without his “best friend”. His seven-year-old niece, Lucy Rogers, who attends Our Lady Star of the Sea School, in Horden, is also missing the pooch.

Keith, who has sons Keith, 30, and Andrew, 29, and lives in Horden, said: “I’ve lost my friend, I live on my own.

“I’ve been all over on my pushbike looking for him, to Hartlepool and Horden. I’ve spent days looking for him.

“I came back last night absolutely exhausted, I’d done about 15 miles.

“My little niece is also missing him like crazy.”

Keith said he had contacted the police to see if there had been any reports of any dogs being run over and he had also been in touch with local kennels, but to no avail.

He said he had also posted on internet forums and people had said they had seen a dog matching Sam’s description near Little Thorpe, near Easington Village.  Anyone who has seen Sam can call Keith on 07793 933393.
