Neighbourly chat sparked love

IT all started with a neighbourly chat.

But it was the spark which led to a dream wedding for Hartlepool couple Amanda and Steven Ainger.

Now Steven and Amanda have looked back on their biggest day and recalled how romance blossomed nearly four years ago.

Amanda explained: "We lived across the road from each other. We just started talking one day and we hit it off straight away and quickly realised we had an awful lot in common."

The proposal came out of the blue for Amanda who said: "Ste proposed to me on his 40th birthday party in the Woodcutter. It was a big shock as I had no idea he was going to propose to me.

"We both liked the idea of getting married abroad and picked Cyprus due to the history of the place."

The couple married in the grounds of the Papho's Gardens Hotel on June 2.

Amanda said: "It was in lovely settings and the grounds were very pretty. After a wonderful ceremony we all went for our reception in a beautiful rooftop restaurant that overlooked the Meditteranean.

"It was a lovely day, which we all enjoyed."

The couple were joined by family including their children Joshua and Ethan Dollin and Thomas Lydon Ainger, Amanda's mother and father Val and Ron Rigg, Steven's aunty Yvonne, uncle Danny, cousin Sharon and her daughter Jade.

Ron Rigg gave Amanda away and Danny Henderson was Steven's best man. Jade Henderson was Amanda's bridesmaid while Sharon Henderson was the witness

A reception was held in the Woodcutter pub in Hartlepool for the family and friends who could not join the couple in Cyprus.

Amanda said: "We thought it would be appropriate to have our reception night in the Woodcutter as that was where Ste proposed."

The couple thanked the White Negroes for playing live for them which made it extra special as Ste's been a fan of them since they started.

"He has followed the band right from the beginning. They were brilliant and everyone had a great night," added Amanda.

Thanks also want to music supplier Grant, Gary Arnell for supplying the equipment and "making our wedding so memorable and the Woodcutter for the catering and hospitality which was second to none".
