16 year old, Hannah Winwood is taking part in a parachute jump on February 11th to help raise money for the British Kidney Patient Association after her aunt, Lisa Towers had a kidney transplant.

A DAREDEVIL schoolgirl is doing a charity parachute jump in honour of her aunt who suffers serious kidney problems.

Hannah Winwood’s aunt Lisa Towers has end-stage renal failure and relies on regular dialysis treatment after she developed a blood disorder called hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS).

Although Lisa’s mother Janice Hall donated one of her kidneys, it was later rejected following the operation in 2006.

Lisa, 36, now needs four dialysis sessions a week.

Hannah, 16, of Shotton Colliery, is taking to the skies to raise money for the British Kidney Patient Association, which helps Lisa in her daily life.

Lisa said: “It’s amazing what Hannah is doing. She came in and said she was going to do the jump and the charity she is doing it for is brilliant.

“They always help me out with whatever I need.”

Hannah, who goes to Shotton Hall Academy, Peterlee, says she is not nervous and added: “I’ve actually done one before so I am quite confident to be honest.

“I just thought it would be something good to do and it is for a really good cause.

“You get a full morning of training before doing it and they run through exactly what will happen, so I’m not scared at all.”

Lisa, of Shotton Colliery, said: “I’m having dialysis on the day but I just hope I can get there to see her because I’m really proud of Hannah.

“She is fantastic and it’s really great what she is doing.”

Hannah will do the jump at Peterlee Parachute Centre this Saturday.

To make a donation to Hannah’s fundraising efforts, call her mum Melanie on 07792643948.
