Suspected drugs haul seized after speeding car stopped
POLICE found £120,000 worth of suspected drugs after they stopped a car for speeding.
The car, which was travelling on the A19 north, near Hartlepool, was brought to a stop on a slip road near to Dalton Park, near Easington, at around 12.45pm yesterday.
Hartlepool officers recovered 12kg of suspected amphetamine with a street value of around £120,000.
A 32-year-old man from the Newcastle area was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.
He has been bailed pending further inquiries and forensic testing of the suspected drugs.
Detective Sergeant Daryll Tomlinson, from Hartlepool Drugs Unit, said the seizure sent out a warning to those suspected of criminal activity and added: “This is a significant recovery of suspected drugs for Cleveland Police.”
