Talented youngsters are Diversity's choice

TWO talented youngsters have been chosen by Britain's Got Talent winners Diversity as one of the nation's best in a national dance competition.

Matthew Ryder, nine, and Joshua Ray, seven, have won a place in the final eight entries out of 99 in the national Change4Life Let's Dance competition.

It means they are now in with a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime dance workshop with Diversity and have already won tickets to their must-see tour.

Competition organisers asked children up to the age of 12 to visit their website to view Diversity's step by step guide to their routines, and then film and upload a dance routine they created using the moves they learned.

Matthew and Joshua, who attend Hartlepool's St John Vianney Primary School and Sacred Heart Primary School respectively, are both keen hip hop dancers and have attended classes held by Ruff Diamond choreographer Zak Healey for the past year.

Joshua's mum, Beverley, 37, a housewife, said: "The boys have had an interest in hip hop dance since George Sampson and the other groups on Britain's Got Talent have been popular.

"It was during the half-term holidays that we found out about the competition after it was advertised in a magazine.

"So I recorded the boys doing their dance, which they put together in about 30 minutes."

Beverley, who lives with husband Neil, a welding inspector in Kazakhstan, Joshua and 18-month-old Annabel, added: "We are really proud of the boys."

Matthew's mum, Leanne, 38, a hairdresser, said: "Since they started Zak's dance class they have never looked back.

"We are so excited for the boys.

"It is lovely when they get an achievement outside of school."

Leanne, who lives with husband Richie, 40, a senior health and safety advisor, son Matthew and daughter Laura, 18, in their home in the High Fields area of Hartlepool, added: "It was just a bit of fun for half-term, so it is amazing how it has all turned out.

"We will just have to wait to hear whether they have won or not, but whatever the result, they have done really well."
