Teen hit while out jogging

A TEENAGE girl has been left badly bruised after being punched in the head while out jogging.

Police say the assault on the 16-year-old was completely unprovoked and are appealing for help in catching the person responsible.

She had been heading along Park Road, in Hartlepool, with her head down and hood up when she felt a blow to the side of her head.

By the time she got her wits together, her attacker had fled, leaving her “shocked and confused” and with a badly swollen and bruised eye socket and cheek.

The teenager saw only dark tracksuit bottoms with a reflective stripe before she was struck.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to ring PC Guest on (01642) 326326 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
