Tyre cut from van

POLICE are investigating a theft from a work van.

Officers from Peterlee Police are appealing for information after a spare tyre was stolen from the undercarriage of a Ford Transit.

The van belongs to construction firm Carillion and was parked outside a house in The Sidings in Blackhall Rocks.

Police say the tyre is a Goodyear model and had been cut away from the underside of the vehicle.

The Hartlepool Mail has previously reported there has been a spate of thefts from vehicles in the east Durham area.

PC Andy Holland, of Peterlee Police, said: “We would urge people to try to park in a secure area and to report anything suspicious.”

Anyone with information about the theft, which took place between 3.30pm on Friday, June 15, and 11am on Saturday, June 16, should contact Peterlee Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
