VIDEO: Party thanks are Taylor made

BATTLING youngster Taylor Stallard and her family staged a public thank you for well-wishers who helped raise thousands of pounds for her.

Scores of families and young children attended an all-day party at Hartlepool's Grand Hotel on Saturday when a rap star performed a song he penned specially for Taylor.

The bash was thrown by the poorly three-year-old's family to thank everyone who supported the Mail's Taylor Stallard Appeal Fund.

To date the appeal has raised more than 5,300 – smashing the 2,800 target needed to buy Taylor a wizzybug motorised wheelchair.

Saturday's event raised another 700, taking it to a magical 6,000.

Taylor beamed with happiness after arriving at the hotel in Swainson Street in a pink party limousine. She had a ball, despite being on a daily supply of oxygen to cope with chronic lung disease and having no immune system to fight off infections.

Taylor threw herself into all the fun which included live music, table top sales and face painting.

Her mum, Nichola Groom, 21, who lives in the Raby Road area of town, said: "The day went brilliantly, people were coming and going all day. I'm still on a high.

"Taylor enjoyed it and we made quite a bit of money.

"I thought the song Silver wrote for her was lovely, it was amazing."

Rap star Silver sang Taylor Made For You, which he penned after being touched by her story.

Silver, 21, from Bedford, in Bedfordshire, said: "When I heard about Taylor I wanted to get involved. She is a beautiful little girl. I really enjoyed performing here. Everyone was happy and upbeat."

He gave a recording to Taylor's family to help raise more money.

Singer Jaycee, a dance crew and girl band Desire from the last series of X Factor also performed on stage thanks to the backing of agency IAMVIP.

All extra money raised through the appeal will go towards Crawford House at Newcastle's RVI which provides accommodation for families with sick children at the hospital.
