Brian Kitching, 32, Graham Lyth, 50, and Michael Driver, 20, are all desperate to find work.
But with 16 people applying for every vacancy and the town one the country’s worst unemployment blackspots, they are facing an uphill battle.
And with news that a lifeline service that helps people back into work faces the axe, the future looks bleak.
The Hartlepool Mail today launches its Work in Progress campaign which will highlight the plight of the trio as they search for a job and try to help them in their quest.
