Time for a change at Pools

A CHANGE of management is now long overdue at Hartlepool United. Having just seen my sixth game of the season (Pools W1 D1 L4), where we lost to two soft goals by a mediocre Huddersfield side, change must be made to ensure that relegation is avoided.

By definition a good manager should consistently achieve good results from his players, though this sadly this is not the case.

The squad clearly has talented individuals – Austin, Brown, Liddle and Jones to name but a few – and they have shown what they are capable of doing, beating Swindon away and drawing against Leeds at home more recently.

In my mind, Turner is too laid back and has a clear problem in communicating with his players.

There have been just too many games which we have lost, having been ahead, and I doubt very much that he can motivate and inspire his players.

I have yet to see a happy, settled team displaying unity and cohesion – body language conveys a spirit of uncertainty and unhappiness off the pitch.

A more authoritarian/disciplinarian type of character is needed. Someone in the Cyril Knowles/Neale Cooper mould would benefit the team, especially those likely to drift in and out of the game such as Monkhouse and Boyd.

Swindon fans are on record as saying that Danny Wilson is the best manager they have ever had.

Mr Hodcroft and his colleagues appear to have made a massive error of judgement in Wilson's dismissal and the prolonging of Turner and co at the helm of HUFC.
