NEWCASTLE United are being linked with a former Liverpool winger, while it’s all quiet on the Sunderland front.

Newcastle United have been joined by Tottenham and Swansea in the race for former Liverpool and out-of-favour Hoffenheim winger Ryan Babel, 25. Fulham are also apparently considering a bid for Dutchman Babel. Full story: Daily Mail

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is worried he has lost the initiative in the race to land Arsenal striker Robin van Persie, 28. Van Persie has refused to sign a new deal at Arsenal this summer. Full story: Daily Mail
