Sunderland face Power’s old club Wigan this weekend in a 3pm kick-off at the Stadium of Light.
As things stand, first team coach Andrew Taylor is set to lead the team again following the 1-1 draw with Burton Albion on Wearside on Tuesday evening.

Hide AdDanny Cowley remains the firm favourite to replace Phil Parkinson with Sunderland looking for a head coach as part of their new structure ahead of the takeover, which is thought to be close.
Time is running out however for any new boss to be in the dugout ahead of Saturday’s game.
For Power, the focus is on getting back to winning ways.
He said: “We have to look at Wigan at home next up. It’s a shame what has happened to them in the past few months.
“They shouldn’t be in this division and it’s no fault of the players – obviously off-field issues hampered them last season – but for me, I’m a Sunderland player, I’ve got good memories at Wigan, but for me now it’s all about this football club.

Sunderland are without a win in all competitions in six matches now, the 1-1 draw with Fleetwood Town the last game of Parkinson’s spell in charge on Wearside.
