JEMMA Lowe continued her build up to her second Olympic Games appearance with a super weekend in Spain.

The Hartlepool swimmer picked up three medals at the Barcelona leg of the Mare Nostrum series – an international event featuring some of the world’s elite.

Lowe, who represented GB at the Olympics in Beijing four years ago, will be competing in the 200 metres butterfly in London this summer.

J Lo began the weekend in style when she collected a bronze medal in the 100 metres butterfly.

And the second and final day at the outdoor pool in Barcelona’s Sant Andreu Club proved just as impressive.

Lowe clinched silver in the 200 metres butterfly, where fellow Brit Hannah Miley was third.

And the 22-year-old Poolie showed her speed when she gained another podium place in the 50 metres buterfly, posting a time of 26.94 to take the bronze behind Silvia Di Pietro and Katerine Savard.

Lowe’s three medals in the Catalan city were amonng the 29 won by British swimmers who dominated the two-day event.

Miley showed her versatility by wining the 400m medley title on the opening day before taking the 400 medley crown yesterday.

Double Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington was the pick of some strong British performances as she won gold in the 800m Freestyle with an assured performance and a championship record of eight minutes 19.86 seconds.

Lowe’s Welsh team-mate Georgia Davies claimed gold in the 100m backstroke in 1:00.87 and secured a second title of the meet when she won the 50m backstroke, although this is a non-Olympic event.

The men refused to be left out and World Championship finalist Michael Jamieson led a British 1-2-3 in the men’s 200 metres breaststroke.
